Day 46 – “Fire”

Extremely high winds. And then fire. The ingredients for devastation. 80 homes were evacuated in the small agricultural town of Fillmore. 18,000 homes in the area lost electricity. Fortunately the fire was contained with the loss of only 2 homes. When the Thomas Fire struck this area in December of 2017, it became the most destructive fire in California history. It burned 281,893 acres (440 sq mi) and destroyed 1,063 structures. But within a year, even more horrific fires would wreak havoc in the state.

  1. I have rode 30K miles of this country on a mule and over 13K miles of wagon trains AND NEVER had as much “bullshit” as this man. It is all in the attitude and his was NOT beneficial to those of us who know how to travel without being an dumb ass. All of his problems were self created and black mark for fellow travelers. Enough said !
