The Mules had tried to bed down near this spot a few months earlier and were told they had to leave in the middle of the night. So then they walked up the road to Torrey Pines and unpacked next to the highway adjacent to the famous golf course. State park rangers woke Mule (John) up at 4:30AM and issued him a citation for illegal camping. Today he took me back to visit the “crime scene” and sequence of events that led up to it.
