Presentations at Backcountry Horsemen of California Rendezvous
Thanks to the Backcountry Horsemen of California for inviting me to present at their annual Rendezvous from March 18 to 20 in Angels Camp, California. BCHC works to preserve, protect and maintain backcountry trails, campsites, streams and meadows on public lands as well as to promote good trail manners. The 3 Mules were guests at the 2013 Rendezvous when it was held in Norco and were able to meet with many of the attendees.

Mules Go To School
I accompanied “The Mules” to Anacapa School in Santa Barbara where the students, grades 7 to 12, were able to interact with the animals and the man. I didn’t have my pro video camera with me but was able to capture this on my iPhone (until the memory ran out). I’m certain this was an experience these kids will remember for the rest of their lives. I hope more opportunities like this will happen in the future. CLICK HERE TO SEE VIDEO

Backcountry Horsemen Old Spanish Trail Trek
Richard Waller, President of Backcountry Horsemen of California, is leading a 1,090-mile ride along the Old Spanish Trail that will take an estimated 66 days. The first leg of the trip begins October 9. You can learn more about this historical journey on the Website and Facebook page. Richard has met Mule a few times and been interviewed for the documentary.
Arraignment at US District Court
The Mules attended arraignment at US District Court in LA for the 3 citations received in May while spending the night on land under jurisdiction of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. A “not guilty” plea was entered and trial date is set for November 6 at which time the Mules will return to LA. I was not allowed to film inside the court room but did film outside. Photo is at 6am at spot where the Mules spent the night not far from the courthouse. City Hall is in the background.
